The Band Western Education in Lowell, MA
Season II Opener: We talk Modern Music Industry and craftsmanship; how do we measure success in the modern era with the band ‘Western Education’.
We open a new season and new year with bandmates Will Hunt and Greg Alexandropoulos of Western Education.
In the first half of our program, Greg and Will joined Scott and Cam to talk about the origins of the band and their very intentional approach to music and performing.
How did their education from University of Massachusetts Lowell effect their musical approach? What aesthetic in their music and in their stage show are they working towards? How does the band feel about giving their audience everything they can? What’s important to them as craftsmen? We also discussed what the band has most recently been working on including their latest single ‘New Dawn’
In the second half of our conversation we discuss the industry of the last two decades and how its has effected the way Western Education approaches the business of music. We also spoke at length what it has been like to manage this band during the pandemic; both what challenges have been placed on them as professionals and what opportunities for change may come from the experience for the band and the industry as a whole.
